People to people: citizen diplomacy with Russian people

Quakers in Britain have recognised the need to build bridges between the people of Russia and “the West”. Common security comes through building a culture of peace and dialogue at every level. Connections between ordinary people have also been important in the past, including during the Cold War.

We have therefore set up a citizen diplomacy initiative, which has received interest from various quarters, and has been mentioned on the BBC Radio 4’s Sunday Programme.

This will be a gathering of those who have taken part in or are interested in citizen diplomacy, in order to exchange experiences and ideas for action.

There will also be an optional craftivism element at the end for those who wish to create cards and send them to Russian churches in the UK. Bring along card-making materials for this segment.
